Enclaved in the Himalaya, the Federal Republic Democratic of Nepal has more than 60 different ethnic groups and castes. Its capital (political and religious) is Katmandou, the largest city of the country. The official language is Nepalese and the currency is the Nepalese rupee. It is compulsory changed from the Indian rupee, to which it is attached.
Three areas divide the country : the mountains, the hills and the Indo-Gangetic Plain. Nepal has 8 of the 10 highest mountains in the world, including Everest. This country was inaccessible for a long time due to its kingdom closed to foreigners. Today, Nepal is famous for its many safaris, hikes, mountain bikes, etc.

Nepal is a very religious country where Hinduism and Buddhism are very present. Culture is mixt : Mongolian and Indo-Aryan. The Nepalese worship the cows. The most typical dish is the Dhal Bhat. We eat with the right hand or with a spoon.

Our partner VIN is a nongovernmental, nonpolitical and nonprofit organization founded in 2005 by humanitarian workers, educators and social activists. The objective of the partner is to make the local population a player in its own development. Therefore, it supports the participation of local and international volunteers to implement sustainable development projects. The objective of this volunteering in Nepal is to valorize the marginalized communities, in particular women and children, thanks to advanced educative programs and local trainings aiming to promote equality, economic well-being and human rights notions.
The pilot project of our partner is at Jitpur phedi, a rural community surrounded by fields, mountains and forests. It is located in the suburbs, 11 kilometers away from the Kathmandu Valley near the wonderful reserve of the Nagarjuna forest. The new project is located in Okhaldhunga, 480 km northeast of Kathmandu, in the Everest region. There are also other projects located elsewhere in the region.
FFN is a partner that propose both short-term and long-term projects about the environment, the empowerment of women but also journalism and IT.
WVN is a NGO that use to receive volunteers. It proposes short-term projects about agriculture and animals, and long-term projects with children whose most of them are orphans. Everything is by the way carried out in cooperation with Buddhist monks : cultural change of scene guaranteed !
NVCYEP, our Nepalese partner especially focused on intercultural exchanges and meetings of young people, essentially proposes long-term projects with children. It is also possible to carry out with it preservation workcamps or environmental short-term projects.
